How difficult is it to say hello or greet someone as you pass them by on the footpath or in a shop etc . I always make a point of exchanging a greeting with anyone I meet on the road but it's got now that good old "friendly" Newry folk will walk over/through you more often than not before even sending a grunt in your direction. Where has out friendliness and sense of community gone and more important is it ever coming back? Eye contact just doesn't happen, heads down and motor on is the action of choice. Is the new Facebook era of non human interaction responsible or is it just the me me me culture and everyone else is either looking something or out to get you? Make it your mission to say hello to at least one stranger today |
