I have an idea for the powers that be in our City. Perhaps when they are putting down footpaths next or repairing
them they could use a type of a mottled Tarmac. In this way any Chewing Gum thrown by the wayside would not look out of place and might even add to the effect. At the moment the old plain slabs or concrete just don't work.
A prime example is outside the Library where chewing gum is more noticeable than the footpath. No point in asking people not to throw it at their heels, they just wouldn't listen so why not a competition sponsored by Wrigley's where the aim is to find the paving stone with the largest number of pieces of gum on it, maybe base an annual festival around it!
Seriously though it is taking over and not exactly helping the promotion of our City.
