Driving home from a night out I came across a man lying face down on the footpath and after witnessing events I'm just wondering what is the Newry etiquette for dealing with incidents like this?
I stopped and went over to check what the story was but no-one else showed any interest in finding out or helping out.
As it turned out it was a young lad worse for wear who by my estimation had just lay down on the footpath and fell asleep as there were no signs of bleeding etc but how was anyone to know that without checking.
He could have been mugged and lying there dying, he could have taken a heart attack who knows but don't worry. DON'T GET INVOLVED is the new cry so you can lie there as long as you like.
I got him sitting up and talking and when I found he didn't want any more help left him there to check him a bit later and when I did he had moved on. Now I have to say it wasn't any inconvenience but I'm beginning to wonder if you are mugged in Newry and left for dead would there be any chance of anyone helping you out?
