Bombs return to Newry

The bomb starts a fire outside Newry Courthouse


Newry Courthouse was the target for Bombers on Monday night. A loud explosion was heard around 10.40pm from as far away as Camlough and it started a blaze on the road. It appears that the bomb was detonated around the main gates of the Courthouse but it is impossible to confirm this at this stage. The PSNI sealed the area off completely immediately after the explosion and roads will probably remain closed for some time.

Damage to the Courthouse isn't immediately apparent at this stage. There are no reports of any injuries.Canal Street is jammed as cars are evacuated away from the scene of the explosion
